This photoshoot explores the feeling of standing out in a society that values “lagom” – a culture where individuals are expected to blend in rather than fully express themselves. Through doll-inspired styling, I aimed to highlight the pressures of capitalism and the routine of waking up every day to meet societal expectations, often shrinking oneself to avoid standing out. The styling and movement direction incorporates ballet-inspired movement and sculptural clothing to symbolize the pursuit of perfection and the way we shape ourselves to fit in. To emphasize the feeling of being “in the wrong place,” I worked with contrasts in color, environment, and opposites, visually reinforcing the idea of standing out in a mediocre world.
